The CRY Centre for Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions operates under the direction of Professor Sanjay Sharma, Professor of Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions and Sports Cardiology at St George’s Hospital. The specialist inherited cardiovascular disease services are managed by Professor Sharma and Dr Elijah Behr – Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist and heart rhythm specialist – who have a team of specialist registrars, nurses and physiologists to provide fast track referral for NHS patients after a young sudden death or when a young person is affected.
At these fast-track clinics families will be seen
- Within a few weeks of referral, after the sudden death of a young family member
- Have all tests on the same day (including when required; ECG, ECHO, exercise test, holter monitor and ajmaline/provocation tests
- Be seen together as a family unit
Referrals will take between 2-6 weeks from receiving the GP referral.
