Within kicking distance of the posts at
Twickenham, England rugby legend Rob Andrew receives a cheque for £5,000 on
behalf of the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) from Det Insp Steve
Jackson of City of London Police.
The money was raised at the force's Gala Awards
Dinner held in June. Rob Andrew, Director of Elite Rugby at the RFU
and a patron of the charity, was joined by CRY founder and Chief Executive,
Alison Cox MBE.
Alison Cox said: "This is just fabulous and will
make a real difference in helping to fund our work. Our thanks go out
to all City of London Police officers and staff who organised and contributed
to the gala dinner and made it such a successful event."
Det Insp Jackson said: "It's a privilege to be
able to represent the force and hand over our cheque for £5,000. I
know, from first-hand experience, the valuable work carried out by CRY in
supporting families with youngsters who suffer from heart conditions."
Exciting plans are already being drawn up for next
year's force Gala Awards dinner Supt Olly Shaw, one of the principal
organisers of the gala event, revealed that Centrepoint, the London charity
for young homeless will be next year's beneficiary.
The theme of the gala will be a celebration of the
talents of the City's younger generation.
