100 Hole Golf Challenge in aid of Andrew Key
On Friday 25th June 2021, a 100 hole golf challenge was held at Longridge Golf Club to raise money and awareness for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) in memory of Andrew Key.
8 friends and family successfully completed the challenge of playing 100 holes in a day, superbly supported by a team of caddies and others.
The weather was not kind, in fact the rain was relentless in the morning but at 4.30am we tee’d off in near darkness. However this did not dampen our spirits as we aimed to do Andrew proud.
After numerous clothing changes and a few lost golf balls, the 100th hole was completed, watched by family and friends. A special moment.
Thank you must go to Longridge Golf Club and it’s staff for allowing us to play the event and fully supporting us throughout the day. Thank you must also go to Raymond James Investments for their kind support of this and other CRY events held in memory of Andrew over the course of the summer.
The day ended up contributing £10,900 (plus gift aid) to Andrew’s memorial. The generosity of the local community whilst raising awareness was wonderful to see. The main goal of the day was the awareness but with the funds generated, it will also contribute towards helping those in need in the future.
