Lauren Wigham and Robyn Beaty completed a mammoth challenge of running a 106km long ultra-marathon around the Isle of Wight, in memory of Eileen Wigham who died suddenly in her sleep in January 2019.
Cheered on by our wonderful friends we started running from Chale, along the stunningly beautiful coastal route and finished in Northwood. To our surprise we positioned as 5th and 6th females in the race after 7 hours of running!
Day two was a tough mental game, requiring us to push through on tired legs. Spurred on by the fantastic £6080 raised for CRY and thoughts of Eileen, we completed the ultra in a total of 17 hours.
Robyn and I would like to say a huge thank you to the incredibly generous people who donated, supported and cheered us on (from the side-line and elsewhere!), in particular all those who chose to stay anonymous on the donation page. We hope the money can go towards preventing losses as sudden as Eileen’s.
