Thank you and congratulations to the 15 CRY runners who took part in the Inaugural London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday 25th March 2018! We were so pleased that we managed to see and cheer on all of our runners on the day, despite the 10,000 runners taking part.
The weather was a little hazy and cold but there was a buzzing atmosphere along the route; a steel drum band, the participation of the London Landmarks mascots, fantastic costumes and, of course, the enthusiastic CRY cheering team who spurred on our CRY London Landmarks team to the finish!
The 10,000 runners started at Pall Mall, finished by Downing Street and ran through both the City of London and the City of Westminster. Mile markers revealed quirky facts to reveal London’s hidden secrets. There were fabulous views along the route of London’s most iconic landmarks including Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, Nelson’s Column, the Gherkin, the Shard, the Tower of London and the London Eye.
CRY staff Nicola Wright, Cara MacMillan, Rhianne Watson and Beth Cox were there on the day along with our amazing volunteers Lucy Bowyer and Sarah Wright at two different spots near Victoria Embankment Gardens to cheer on all 15 CRY runners. We were so glad that we were able to see all of the CRY team, 6 of whom we managed to see more than once. Our clappers might have ran out of steam towards the end, however this didn’t prevent our cheering team being one of the loudest on the route! Everyone seemed to enjoy the day and, once again, it was lovely to see so many groups of family and friends, united in support of their runners.
The runners in the CRY team were: Gerald Bruce (running in memory of Harry Faulkner); Graham Butler (running in memory of Carl Buckley); Anne Chambers (running in memory of Andrew Lancastle); Daniella Colton (running in memory of Thomas Arthur Day); Jack Doyle (running in memory of Ben Daniels); Jeremy (running to support CRY); Emily Dubois & Jonathon Mamczynski (running in memory of Harry Dubois); Emma Duncan (running in memory of Ben Birch); Richard Quin, Trevor Quin & Andy Walker (running in memory of Danny Brown); Chris Sampson & Penny Spiller (running in memory of Arabella Campbell); James Shaw (running in memory of Ally Calvert).
We are hoping to have places in this event in 2019 and will post the date on the CRY website as soon as possible.
