In July 2010 I lost my beautiful niece Pixie Belle, aged 13 months. We were told that the cause was sudden infant death, yet she was such a healthy and happy little girl. We started fundraising for SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) and SUDC (Sudden Unexpected Death in Childhood).
In 2012 it would have been Pixie’s 3rd birthday and the 2nd anniversary of her death. The SUDC Program came back with results from further tests giving us a reason as to why Pixie died. Little Pixie died from Myocarditis, which is inflammation of the heart muscle, caused by a virus in her case.
We are so thankful for all the help and support The SUDC Program gave and would now like to help with fundraising for CRY. I decided to do a skydive because I’m always up for pushing myself out of my comfort zone and wanted to link that with raising money for CRY.
On April 24th 2013, my fiancé and I jumped from an airplane overlooking the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam in Las Vegas. It was one of the scariest and most amazing experiences of our lives!
As you can see in the pictures, I had a little bear with me. She is called Betty and has been on a big journey herself since Pixie left us in 2010. She’s travelled all over the world to Australia, America, Singapore, Germany, and even up Mount Kilimanjaro; and then was auctioned to raise money for Pixie’s charity. I was lucky enough to win the auction as she had accompanied me to Australia and Kilimanjaro, so I felt a special bond with her. I decided I wanted her to join me in the skydive, luckily she made it down safely with me.
I raised £332.50 for CRY and will continue to support and raise funds for this fantastic charity!
