Having succeeded in her personal goal of losing weight, secondary school teacher Caitlin Garrett has set herself a new goal of taking on the 10k Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run. “I decided to challenge myself to a 10k and signed up to the Great Aberdeen Run. As it’s my first race, the idea of taking part as part of the AFC Wave seemed like the perfect fit,” she said. “I’ve also signed up for the Scottish Half Marathon in September so the 10k is the ideal stepping stone for that. I’m aiming to complete the Aberdeen run in under an hour, but as it’s my first 10k, I’m mainly just looking forward to enjoying the occasion.” Caitlin will run both races in memory of a school friend and her brother who passed away of an undianosed heart condition, with the money she raises going to Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
