On Saturday April 7th we had a Bungee Day at The Brook Pub in Cambridge, to raise funds for CRY. After a dodgy start weather-wise, the clouds cleared, the sun came out and biggest crane I’ve ever seen arrived for the intrepid jumpers.
We were told we needed 40 jumpers to ensure the costs were covered, so were somewhat nervous as the doors opened.
We certainly needn’t have been! People just kept coming. We had a BBQ going all day, with people paying all sorts of prices for a burger as they knew it was all for a good cause.
The swear box (somebody’s brainwave) was also full fairly quickly once people saw the height of the crane!
It seemed people’s generosity knew no bounds and the money just kept coming. We easily managed 40 very brave souls who bungeed the 180 foot drop (not for the faint-hearted), with some even going twice!
A fantastic day was had by all, going into a disco and raffle in the evening that was great fun. It was an exhausting but fantastic day that ended with everyone asking what we were going to do next year!
Once all the sponsor money was in we had raised over £5000. How we are going to top the day next year is anyone’s guess, but we are working on it.
