“I have never taken part in a race before and I signed up for the AIR 10k (Audio Inspired Running) with Richmond Running Festival, in December 2020 as a challenge to myself since getting into running during the first lockdown and a way to raise money for CRY.
The event took place all within Kew Gardens in a socially distanced and very well organised day which wouldn’t have been possible without the fantastic organisers and marshals who were able to keep everyone safe and entertained throughout!
Despite not being able to have spectators due to COVID-19 restrictions, there was a fantastic atmosphere on the day with the other runners and volunteers and I’m already looking forward to finding my next race and perhaps a half marathon in the future. I’m very pleased and thankful to have raised £529 so far with donations still coming in daily!
I am very grateful to be able to run in such a beautiful setting like Kew Gardens and most importantly to do it wearing a CRY T-shirt, a charity I hold very close to my heart because of the incredible support they have given to my family after losing my uncle to Cardiomyopathy and the incredibly important support they continue to give to so many other families.”
