Anne Signol from Stockport teamed up with illustrator Scott Artus from Ammanford to create the book The Football Trials!
The book focuses on two fictional youngsters each with their own struggles while following their dream of becoming top footballers.
Scott said: “One has cerebral palsy and works hard to remove his calipers and play football, while the other is bullied relentlessly and football is his escape.
“The book is there to inspire young players who aspire to be the best at their game, while raising money for a good cause at the same time and raising people’s awareness of sudden cardiac death in young people.”
Scott will be signing copies of the book and doing illustrations at the Little Acorns Boutique in College Street, Ammanford, on Saturday, September 11, between 11am and 3pm.
Proceeds from the sale of the book will be ploughed into the CRY campaign and the Joseph Halliwell Memorial Fund.
Joseph, from Stockport, died aged just 20 in 2012 from an undetected heart condition, while riding his bike and was found unconscious by a passerby.
Joseph’s parents Joanna and Simon set up the memorial fund to help raise money for CRY and raise awareness of sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS).
Both Anne and Scott were they hope their book will therefore help raise awareness of cardiac arrest risk in young people as well as aspire youngsters to overcome challenges to excel in their sporting field – whatever it may be.
The book will be available at the shop or can be bought on eBay here.
