Issue 84 of the CRY Update reports on all news, events and fundraising from January to April 2021.
In February as Heart Month began, we introduced an exciting new fundraising initiative: the 25 Million Metre Challenge. Supporters could take part individually or in teams as we collectively aimed to travel 25 million metres by walking, running, cycling or swimming. It was fantastic to see so many people get involved with this challenge as we smashed our original target. You can read a full write-up of the event on page 12.
Our next initiative in this four-month period was the marathon radio event organised by our partner Sunrise Radio, with Anushka Arora hosting a 36-hour broadcast. This included interviews with CRY doctors and young people whose lives had been saved by screening, and reminders about why it’s important to support CRY and fund cardiac screening. You can read more about the event and listen to some of the interviews by going to page 13.
In her column in this issue of the Update, CRY Founder Alison Cox wrote about understanding the full impact of a young sudden cardiac death and supporting others who have been affected by the young sudden cardiac death of a relative or friend. You can read this piece on page 10.
