Institute of Child Health, 30 Guilford Street, London
CRY’s second ever annual Family Medical Conference took place on June 14th 2008, at the Institute of Child Health in London.
The four expert speakers at this event were Dr Elijah Behr (right) – who spoke about Ion Channelopathies; Dr Sanjay Sharma – who presented on the subject of Cardiomyopathies and other heart muscle conditions; Penny Schofield – who talked about the role of the Coroner when there is a young sudden cardiac death; and Dr Mary Sheppard – who explained the role of the Pathologist and her fast track service for sudden death families at the CRY Centre for Cardiac Pathology.
Delegates were able to put questions to these expert speakers, both in ‘official’ Q & A sessions after each presentation, and also on a one-to-one basis during lunch and refreshment breaks.
The event was once again an invaluable opportunity for bereaved families to have access to top medical and judicial professionals, in order to get their specific questions addressed and to help with their understanding of the tragedies that have befallen them.
