On June the 3rd this year, after 6 months of planning, we held the first Dan Hughes memorial golf day at Wolstanton Golf Club, Newcastle Under Lyme. 20 teams of 4 players tee’d off as the claxon sounded at 1pm. There were several hole in one prizes on the Par 3 holes including a brand new Kia Picanto car, £4,000 cash prize and a Golfing holiday to Portugal. The event was very well supported by local business’s and club members alike with a couple of scratch teams mixed in as well. When the golf finished Pie chips and peas were served before a short presentation on CRY and the purpose of the Dan Hughes Memorial. A keenly contested auction of sporting memorabilia, spa days and other things along with a raffle helped to boost the amount raised on the day to £9,600
On behalf of Dan’s Family and CRY I would like thank Wolstanton golf club for staging the event and the organisers who put so much time and effort into making it a success.
