Max (picture right) died suddenly almost exactly a year ago, on 24 September 2010, on the eve of his wedding to Jane Davies. Suzanne Lowry, Max’s mother, said that she and Jane had organised the art exhibition and reception with a double objective: to celebrate Max’s life and work, and to help the charity in raising awareness of SADS. “CRY does such valuable work in many directions,” Suzanne said. “Not only in funding research and treatment which can help save young lives, but also in consoling relatives of victims and informing the wider public about Sudden Arrhythmic Death. We wanted to make a contribution to all that.”

The event was attended by around 400 people, including the New York designer Georgina Chapman, an old school friend of Max and Jane, who donated a beautiful evening bag to be auctioned. It sold for £1,500 and other lots included a tennis lesson at Wimbledon with Tim Henman which went for £1,800, and Radio 1 Festival tickets for 2012, which fetched £2, 000.

Alison Cox, MBE, CRY Founder and CEO expressed her appreciation to Suzanne and Jane for organising the event and gave a brief overview of CRY’s aims, objectives and achievements since 1995, and spoke of the over-riding need to raise awareness of SADS . “
