Run Norwich 2023
On 16 July I ran the Norwich 2023 for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) in memory of my son Toby who died at the age of 27 from a sudden cardiac arrest whilst running the Barcelona Marathon in March earlier this year. Toby was an experienced runner and we ran together a great deal including in events such as the London Big Half, the Hastings and Cambridge Half Marathons, and the Beachy Head Marathon.
Run Norwich is an annual 10k race through the heart of the beautiful and historic city of Norwich with thousands of runners involved from across Norfolk and beyond many of whom, like me, were fundraising for important causes. I’m a Norwich resident and I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere running past some of my favourite buildings and along familiar streets lined with supporters, with some live music to spur us all on our way.
I am very grateful to everyone who has supported my fundraising for CRY many of whom are connected with running, church and music groups to which I belong. These include Norfolk Gazelles, Norwich Cathedral Chamber Choir, Hellesdon & Sprowston Brass Band, Holst Singers, NEJ Running Club, and the congregations of St Andrew’s, Trowse and St Peter Mancroft, Norwich. Family members and other friends have backed me too. I have raised over £2,000 to support CRY’s vital work. Toby would be proud of me.
