Mark Law Hing Choy
Mark Law Hing Choy’s presence is deeply missed by his family, and friends to this day.
On April 20th 2009, despite the valiant efforts of the cardiac team at Bedford Hospital, this vibrant young man, previously in the prime of his life (aged 35), was taken from his family and many friends.
Words feel inadequate in the face of such profound loss, yet amidst the sorrow, a number of Mark’s closest friends, made a solemn vow to Marks dad ‘Frank’ and mum ‘Kathy’ to honour his memory annually with a Charity Golf Day & Gala Dinner. Golf was Mark’s passion and he was very good at it! True to their word, this promise has been faithfully upheld, with over £130,000 raised thus far in Mark’s name.
One thing is for sure, there is no doubt that Mark would have taken immense pride in supporting CRY and its vital mission. The organisation’s tireless efforts to raise awareness and promote cardiac screening among young people, aiming to prevent further tragic losses like Mark’s, is truly amazing.
It is with this sentiment that Mark’s friends, along with his family have established this CRY Memorial Fund in his honour. It stands as a lasting tribute to a life cut short too soon, a beacon of hope in the fight against sudden cardiac death among the young.
This memorial fund has been set up by the family to help CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death through supporting CRY’s screening programme.
Our Mark
12.07.1973 – 20.04.2009
There once was a little boy,
His name was Mark Law Hing Choy
We didn’t know what to do with him,
’cause he was such a lovely boy.
He grew up strong and fair,
And was our pride and joy.
He was taken without warning,
Which sent us into mourning,
Although we can never recover,
We will love him forever.
