The 25th April 2024 marked 5 years since I had a cardiac arrest at the age of 26 due to an unknown genetic condition called ARVC (Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy). I am one of the lucky ones. Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. Fewer than 1 in 10 people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
So, on the 27th April we had a party to celebrate the fact that I’m still alive! I can’t think of a better reason for a party. As well as having a good time, we also raised £938 which was well over our target of £500.
