Support for death check

Forest of Dean MP Mark Harper has welcomed moves to improve research into sudden deaths among young people.

The group Cardiac Risk in the Young (Cry) aims to fund referrals by the coroner to an expert cardiac pathologist when a young dies suddenly and the cause is unknown.

Cry was founded to raise awareness of, and provide screening and treatment for, sudden cardiac death.

Mr Harper said: "The condition is probably genetic so if deaths of this nature can be confirmed, relatives can take action to get themselves tested for the condition and work to reduce the risk to them"

Cry runs it owns screening programme and has raised more than £4000,000 for cardiac medical equipment in hospitals and GP surgeries.
