In July this year Elaine and Ian Ward held two days of heart screening sessions of young people funded by the Neil Ward Memorial Fund within CRY at Stubley Medical Centre.
Through the activities of Adrian Dunkley, who is manager of the Dronfield Town U16’s Gosforth Boys Football Team he was able to raise £1570 to help fund members of his team to be screened at our sessions. Both Elaine and Ian would like to thank Adrian and all the parents who helped raise much needed finances to enable their young people to be screened.
At the screening sessions, organised by CRY, they are given an ECG, an interview with a cardiologist and if necessary, an ultra-sound heart scan. So far Elaine and Ian have raised enough money to hold 27 days of screening which is equivalent to around 2700 young local people being screened and they have been told by CRY that over 80 have been referred for further investigation. A days screening costs £6800 and two sessions have been booked for the first weekend in July 2025 at Stubley Medical Centre.
