July 2008
My 17-year-old son Harvey was a gifted and talented musician, playing the flute and drums, ‘preferably loud!’
With Harvey’s passion for music in mind I decided to undertake a musical challenge and raise funds for CRY at the same time.
In February I bought a viola much to the amusement of the rest of the family (and entertainment for the local cat population!).
I imagined that Harvey would be laughing whilst commenting on the viola as a piece of firewood compared with his love of the flute and drums as ‘proper instruments.’
In July I asked family and friends to sponsor me to take the London College of Music’s Grade 3 exam in music performance.
I passed with distinction and raised £376.40.
Harvey’s mum, Christine.
