An Eastbourne councillor and his wife are throwing their weight behind a charity challenge.
Patrick and Niomie Warner have decided to take part in the Eastbourne Weight Loss Challenge to raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit and the Mayor's chosen charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young.
The Weight Loss Challenge is jointly organised by Eastbourne Borough Council and Eastbourne Downs Primary Care Trust.
Cllr Warner said: "As I am a borough councillor and my wife is employed by the Primary Care Trust, we thought it would be great to continue the spirit of partnership between the two organisations by taking part, in the hope that it might help raise the profile of the challenge and raise money for charity."
Mrs Warner said: "The Special Care Unit will always hold a special place in our hearts and if it wasn't for the dedicated care they give, our young son Oliver would not be the happy, healthy little boy he is today."
Cllr Warner added: "Following the sad loss of a friend and former colleague last year, Cardiac Risk in the Young seemed a worthy beneficiary of our efforts too in order to help them with their important work."
