My tots defy death

Dad Rob Griffiths hugs his little girls – who like him have a genetic condition that can spell sudden death.

Rob, 44, Nelly, two, and Rhiann, five, suffer from Long QT, which may stop the heart without warning. Emotion, a shock or even an alarm going off can trigger an attack.

Ex-soldier Rob – whose student son Rhys, 20, is also a sufferer – said: "You can't let it rule your life. Some people have cancer and they are a lot worse off than us."

Logistics manager Rob and wife Jane, 43, of North Wooton, Norfolk, vowed to make life as normal as possible for the girls.

Rob said: "You cannot wrap them in cotton wool."
