On Saturday the 11th of June we staged our annual 7 a side football tournament for the Dan Hughes memorial shield. 8 local teams entered the competition and its Congratulations to Winners Wood Lane F.C. who beat Audley 1-0 in the final. Thank you to Premier League Referees assistant Simon Bennet along with Melvin Clewlow & Richard Powell for refereeing the games. We must add our congratulations to Simon who has been chosen to officiate at the 2022 world cup in Qatar.
Thank you to Audley F.C. for hosting the event again for us, the pitch was immaculate and the support we received was brilliant as always. We raised £931 from the day which is a great result so thank you to all the players & spectators for your support.
The next day we walked the potters arf marathon course as we have done every year since Dan died, The star of the was Dan’s Niece, 9 year Frankie, who did the whole 13 miles with Sue, she’s too young to register for a number but was desperate to do it for her uncle Dan. The team at the end were brilliant and gave her a medal which she so richly deserves.. Well done sweetheart, nanny and granddad are so very proud of you for doing it, all together we collected £265 as we walked around the course.
