The Aesthete Stud All Breeds Miniature Horse Show is held by Jane Davenport-Lister and family, and they are once again very kindly allowing us to raise awareness of SDS and money for CRY, in Vicky Johnson’s memory. Last year’s event was very successful, and raised £932 for CRY.
Vicky was lost to SDS (Sudden Death Syndrome) on the 31st of August 2003, aged just 20 years old. Vicky collapsed and died whilst on holiday with her fiance, their 5 month old baby Shannon, and her fiance’s family. Her death left a turmoil of emotions. Disbelief amongst all her family and friends, and complete shock. We want to bring SDS to the attention of everyday people like us – to let people know that 8 young lives are lost to SDS every week, and that something must be done.
The Aesthete Show is a miniature horse show which is well known throughout the miniature showing world. It is very popular, attracting entrants from all over the UK and sometimes overseas too. It always draws a large crowd and has a wonderfully friendly atmosphere. The show is always well run and is a much anticipated event on the calendar every year!
We intend to raise money through a tombola; a bric-a-brac stall; a ‘name the bear’ competition; a stallion raffle – which was very popular last year; a cake stall (with lots of iced buns!); and flower arrangements. There will also be various items for sale, and being auctioned. We hope to raise as much awareness, and as much money as we can.
If you fancy a day out on the 7th August and wish to help raise money for a wonderful cause, then please come along. Its a lovely day, with lots to see and do, and many beautiful horses of all colours – all mostly under 34″ tall. And of course, not forgetting the cute foals!
