Paul, Paul Snr and Jake Goodwin completed a very hot Aintree Half Marathon on the 31st July in memory of Stephen Whitby.
Stephen passed away last year at the age of 49 from cardiac arrest, just a day before his 50th birthday. He leaves behind partner Jayne, sons Lewis & Callum and daughter Lilly.
Having worked in the industry for many years, Ste was the owner of a betting shop in Kirkby, Liverpool. We found it very fitting to honour his memory by raising money to support CRYs efforts at the home of the Grand National.
Throughout the 21k, we heard plenty of supporting cheers from other runners and spectators about how great of a charity we were supporting, which kept us moving in the unexpected heat.
By the end of race day, over £1600 had been raised for CRY, smashing the £1000 goal we’d set just a couple of months ago. Donations came from friends, family, and a collection at Ste’s former betting shop which raised over £500 on it’s own for which we’re very grateful.
