A young man from Upton is nursing his blisters after having walked 100km in less than 24 hours to raise money for charity.
Alex Boden, aged 19, Oakland Close, and his friend Chris Gann, 18, from Buckingham, set themselves a challenge to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young.
They were inspired to make the effort because a boy from the school they both attended in Buckingham died from a heart attack a couple of years ago while playing football.
They set off from Upton on Friday (May 7) at 3.50pm and walked non-stop, via Tewkesbury, Stowe and Chipping Norton to Winslow, near Buckingham. They arrived at 3.20pm on Saturday, and were met by a welcome party of friends, family and other local people.
Alex's father, Wayne Boden, said the boys had planned the event only three weeks ago, then realised that due to other commitments, they needed to do the walk now, or else wait until later in the year.
They have raised £865 so far and want to thank all those who have sponsored them. If anyone else wants to help them get to their target of £1,000, they can still donate on justgiving.com/alexandgannywalk100km
