On Saturday 11th May, players and friends (and even one pet) of Broughty United AFC took part in a sponsored climb of Ben Nevis. For many of us it was our first experience of climbing a mountain, so what better challenge than to go for the biggest in the UK. The day went well with the weather being extremely kind and providing us dry and clear conditions. Everyone reached the summit to celebrate the achievement, only to realise that was only half of the challenge. With the journey down as tough going as the way up. Although there was time for a sprint finish for those who still had the energy.
We chose CRY as it’s charity close to the heart of many associated with Broughty United AFC. With a few of us having played football with Pete McAvoy who sadly passed away in 2014.
In total we managed to raise £2000 for CRY thanks to the efforts of those involved and the gratefully appreciated generosity of those who donated. We are all really honoured to have been able to contribute in a small way to such a worthwhile charity.
