A charity fund in memory of a young man killed by a rare heart condition is looking for people to play a round of golf.
The Lovon Morland Memorial Fund will hold a golf tournament, which it hopes could become an annual event, this Saturday, at the Cocken Lodge Golf Course, Leamside, near Durham City.
After Levon, of West Rainton, died aged 22 in 2002 from Wolfe Parkinson White Syndrome, his family launched the fund to raise money for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young, (CRY) which provides screening tests for young people to see if they have undetected hear defects like Levon.
“There is only room for 36 players in the competition and it is filling up swiftly,” said Steve Percival, a family friend who is one of the fund’s trustees.
“We are lucky to have Brian Marwood, the former Arsenal footballer who is a Sky TV sports commentator, playing.
