On Saturday the 12th of May, we held our 3rd Annual Family Fun Day at Preston Grasshoppers RFC in memory of Stevie Wiggins.
A keen sportsman and traveller who used to play rugby for Preston Grasshoppers, Stevie began his adventures in 1998 when he gave up his job at F2 chemicals in Preston to chase his dream of seeing the world.
He went travelling around Australia, New Zealand and Europe, before taking jobs as holiday reps in resorts such as Ibiza in the summer, and France and the United States in the winter.
All Stevie’s friends were keen to stage an event each year in his memory, and have held a charity rugby match at Preston Grasshoppers to raise awareness for CRY.
The match is made up of current and past players, and is always followed by a hog roast, children’s games, bouncy castle, raffle and this year, the great balloon race which saw over 200 balloons release. Check your gardens, as one of Stevie’s balloons may have travelled as far as he did! Later this year we are planning to hold a CRY screening at the club.
