Dave, Richard and Zac and I are a bunch of friends who enjoy cycling. We had been talking for a while about cycling from Lands End to John O’ Groats… so this year we thought it was about time to get our act together! On the 16th of July at 9am we left Lands End and finished at John O’ Groats on the 29th July at 4.30pm some two weeks later….Some of us also did a couple of other events too for training….. myself I did the Nello a 100mile bike ride in preparation for LEJOG… We all raised money for Charity and I chose CRY.
The ride itself was a tough couple of weeks! but I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the UK by bike (Except for 2 days of solid rain around Manchester which spookily coincided with the Ashes Test Match). During the journey I met many people and experienced life affirming moments such as cycling across the Clifton Suspension Bridge, the Highlands, the Firth of Forth Road Bridge and seeing nature in its entirety. I would encourage anyone who is thinking of doing LEJOG to just do it! You wont regret it…
As of today’s date 7/8/23 my funding raising page has just gone over £1500 for CRY and I am hoping this will go over £1600 once all the other promised sponsorship money comes in. I decided to raise funds for this worthwhile charity as both my boys have benefited from the Free Scans and I have lost family members to heart related problems.
Thank you for reading my story and please find attached the compulsory start and finish photos! P.S I have also got to say a massive thank you to all the people who have sponsored me, plus my wife Georgina and 2 boys Tom and Freddie for their support and of course my cycling buddies Dave Richard and Zac!
