When I heard about the CRY cake and bake morning I decided it would be a good idea to hold one here at Charterhouse as the Charterhouse Club hold an annual MacMillan coffee and cake morning which is very successful Our café staff were very helpful and using the expertise of Monica Vovcenco we set about planning it for last Friday. It was a matter of asking friends and colleagues to bake and making sure people turned up. Even one of the school boys made a cake!
The Club provided free coffee and tea for all who bought a cake, from brownies, slices, cup-cakes, apple cakes, energy balls and Victoria sponges to name a few. The tables were adorned with CRY leaflets, CRY balloons and a display from Team EE- Emma Ostle’s 5 Marathon runs and my 5 Swims in 5 Countries plus a page featuring my son, James, cycling, running, playing soccer and scuba diving (tomorrow is his birthday!). We held the stall from 9:30 – 1:30 and took £600. From the cakes I left in the teachers’ staff room and some donations the total was £700. We are all looking forward to doing it again next year and enlightening the public on Cardiac Risk in the Young.
