The family of a Dumfries man who died on a rugby pitch have been left “blown away” by the demand for potentially live-saving cardiac screenings.

This month marks three years since former St Joseph’s College pupil David Hill died of an undiagnosed heart condition.

After his sad passing, his family set up the David Hill Memorial Fund – which has raised more than £75,000 for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) to carry out hundreds of free cardiac screenings.

And they have been left amazed after the latest batch of screenings – at the Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries next month – were booked up within hours of being advertised.
