A screening day for 14- to 35-year-olds is being held in Biddulph on Saturday with Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
A grieving mum has raised more than £91,000 to help prevent another family going through a similar tragedy. Nicola Burndred’s son Jordan died in October 2015 when he suffered a heart attack aged just 17 while on holiday in Turkey.
Since then Nicola and her friends and family have held nine screening days in conjunction with Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) which have seen hundreds of people checked for undiagnosed heart defects.
“Over the years we have held nine screening days and people have told us that potentially life-saving things have been picked up. It’s a good thing to find out because there are always things that can be done.
“We don’t want another family to have to go through what we have.”
