Football
teams from across York turned out to play in a tournament dedicated to the
memory of Jamie Bucknell.
The
six-a-side tournament was organised by long term Bucknell family friends
Sandra Long and Pete Miler.
Teams
taking part included one made up of teachers from Huntingdon School, where
Jamie was a pupil.
Strensall
FC, who are managed by Jamie’s dad, Keith, entered two teams.
The
event raised over £600 for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young – CRY,
which Keith and his wife, Debbie, now work closely with in memory of
Jamie.
Keith
said:” It was a good day, I enjoyed it. We are disappointed not
to have won, but we were beaten by the Keystones, who went on to be worthy
winners.
“What
matters most is the money raised for CRY, we are really pleased about
that.
“Pete
and Sandra have made a really big effort on this and they both deserve
lots of credit for that”
Jamie,
aged 14, died of a heart attack last November. Keith and Debbie set
up the Jamie’s Have a Heart Appeal in his memory, which bought 12 new
portable heart monitors for York District Hospital.
They
then pledged their support to CRY.
