Friends of Tim Spooner, the young footballer who died during a match last month, have already raised £2,000 in his memory.
Mr Spooner, aged 21, collapsed in the changing rooms after suffering chest pains during a six-a-side game at Blisworth and was taken to hospital, but doctors could not save him.
Generous pals and other members of the close-knit Blisworth community have come up with £2,000 which will go to the Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) charity.
A memorial match between his former football club, Blisworth FC and Bugbrooke Rugby Club on Saturday has now raised hundreds more.
Ross Burton, a friend of Tim's said: "The event was well worth it. We raised some more for CRY and some which will be put towards a memorial garden at the club.
"We're also using some of it to send his older brother, Jonny, on holiday – he's been so stressed out since Time passed away and he deserves this."
The event featured a fundraising auction of sports memorabilia, a raffle, a barbecue, a tug-of-war and a disco.
The memorial match was made up of a half of football, which Blisworth won 2-1, and a half of rugby, which was won by seven tries to six by Bugbrooke. Bugbrooke won the deciding penalty shootout.
However, another friend, Fiona Burton, said the real winners were Tim's friends and the community.
She said: "It was very emotional in parts, particularly when a friend stood up and made a really nice speech in front of everyone.
"He is such a loss to the village and he was such a lovely lad. But I'm so pleased how it went, because it showed what we thought of him. It's amazing how we have all pulled together through this."
