Sailors from Broxbourne Sailing Club are riding on the crest of the wave after raising more than £1,000 for charity through a 12-hour marathon.
About 50 youth and adult members of the Nazeing club joined in the sponsored sail from noon until midnight on Saturday as part of a fun day to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
Laura Mechem, 17, who organised the event with friends, Scott Room, Luke Bailey, David Hayes and Jenny Carroll, said: "We had at least one boat out on the water for the whole time. There were all sorts of boats taking part, including toppers, lasers and ospreys. It was a fantastic effort.
"We chose CRY as our charity because one of our young members, James Wood, died four years ago after suffering a cardiac arrest."
CRY aims to raise awareness of Sudden Death Syndrome in the young and supports families who have lost someone in such circumstances.
As well as the sponsored sail, the club also had a fun day at its Meadgate Road HQ, with games, activities, windsurfing and refreshments for visitors.
The club holds a variety of training and race days for youth and adult members.
