The Mayor is holding a charity dinner and dance in aid of the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young on March 17 (7pm).
The event will be taking place in the Floral Hall at the Winter Garden.
Jenny Cole, CRY south east county representative, said: “CRY is an important charity because it has taken the lead in bringing awareness to the community about the risk of cardiac conditions in young people, and giving those youngsters with problems the chance to do something about them.
“The support from the mayor’s charity this year will make a significant difference to furthering the aims of the charity.
“This dinner and dance promises to be an exciting occasion and is not to be missed.”
The event boasts a three-course dinner of smoked salmon and trout roulade, demi poussin and a torte. It is being served by Red Eventual Cuisine, with a vegetarian option available.
Following the meal, guests will be entertained by Pzass, an 11-piece band.
The main purpose of the evening is to have fun whilst raising money to help reduce the tragic loss of young people to sudden adult death syndrome.
Most people will be aware of at least one incident where a young adult has died without warning.
Every week, eight apparently fit young people die from undiagnosed heart conditions.
Tickets are £30 each and can be obtained by sending a cheque, made payable to: The Mayor of Eastbourne’s Charity, to Miss B Chwatow, Mayor’s Office, Town Hall, Grove Road, Eastbourne, BN21 4UG, or call 415020.
Individuals or couples are welcome to purchase tickets. Complete tables seating eight are also available.
CRY was chosen as this year’s mayoral charity, not only because of its importance in raising awareness of this type of sudden death and providing support for grieving families, but also because a young Cavendish School student, Jeremy Cole, known the mayor, died suddenly in 1995 without any warning.
