5th October 2008
The streets of Newcastle were busy on Sunday 5th October 2008 with 52,000 runners pounding the pavements.
The BUPA Great North Run’s 13.1 mile route starts in Newcastle passing through the Tyne Bridge onto Gateshead, then South Tyneside before finishing in South Shields on the coast. I managed to complete the run in 1 hour 51 minutes.
I was running in memory of Adam Drawbridge – a good friend and work colleague who passed away 1st November 2007 – to raise money and awareness for CRY. Thanks to generous support from colleagues, friends and CSC’s Charity Champions Award Scheme I have managed to raise £940.65
The day was fantastic – the weather, the crowds (who were giving out biscuits, lollies, chocolates – or so I was told by a few of my friends, I managed to run straight past it all!) and the atmosphere they and the all the runners created.
I am currently deciding on what the next challenge should be!!
