Ben Walker’s former headteacher, Steve Harvey, will run the London Marathon in his memory. In 2017, the 15 year old collapsed while playing football with the Thrapston Town Juniors FC. The cause of his death is believed to be a heart attack. At that time, Mr Harvey was the headteacher of Ben’s school and this year, two years after Ben’s death, he will be running in his memory. “Fate has decided that the second anniversary of Ben’s death will be when I do it,” said Steve. He is running to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) in order to support them in facilitating heart screenings for young people aged 14 to 35 and raising awareness of Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome. Steve has already raised £2500 which he says will “spur him on” as he runs the marathon. “If anyone feels they wish to support with a donation it will be really appreciated,” he added.
