MORE than 220 people attended a free heart screening event in Lerwick at the weekend – and the wheels are in motion for it to return to Shetland next year.
The screenings took place at the Clickimin in Lerwick for people aged 14 to 35.
Its organiser, the local group Shetland Heart Screening, said more than ten people have been referred on for further checks following the event.
The screenings themselves were facilitated by the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young, and a team of eight headed to Shetland from the mainland.
“We are delighted that after the success of this event they have also agreed to come back again next year,” Shetland Heart Screening’s Siobhan Pirie said.
“We are looking to confirm the 2023 date in the coming weeks and will be updating people when we can.
The team said they were “so incredibly grateful and overwhelmed” by the support they have received.
