Like a lot of Mum’s I have boxes in the loft with my children’s drawings, cards, special stories etc. In the Summer of 2018 as Izzy was preparing to go to University I decided to make her a photo book with all her favourite people and little oddments from her childhood. It was then I rediscovered the poem carefully packed away in my Mum’s box in the attic. So in it went to her University “friends and family” book though she did claim to be embarrassed about it. After we lost her I reread the poem and thought how much it expressed the idea of life and death. Our Minister based her Eulogy around the poem and at the celebration of her life that we held after the funeral I made wee magnets with the poem and a photo for her friends to take away. They still sit on many a fridge in her family and friends homes and bring comfort and hope. It was also turned in to an Art project by the youth group she was a member of and will hang on the wall when the Hub is reopened.
