Saturday 2nd October 2021 was a dreich, wet, windy day on the beautiful Isle of Cumbrae, Scotland. The weather though could not dampen the spirits of the 70 special family members and friends who joined us for a fundraiser in aid of CRY and in memory of Scott. 11 ran a half marathon, 35 cycled or walked the length & breadth of the island and all others provided much needed and invaluable support, that we could not have held this event without. After the sponsorship activities ended, we all got together for the first time since the outbreak of Covid at a venue in Millport, where more funds were raised through a raffle and donations from 2 island businesses.
Final total raised was £5,047, as follows;
Half Marathon, Cycle & walk Sponsorship – £4,055
CRY donations made by attendees – £296
Raffle tickets – £556
Mapes cycle hire donation – £90
Tavern Bar donation – £50
It was a fantastic day for an amazing charity but most importantly, it was all in memory of a very special young man, who will be loved and remembered always.
With heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and donated.
