Macclesfield Leisure Centre will be selling cakes for charity next month.
It is all to raise money in memory of an employee who passed away at the start of the year.
Teenager Mia Jennings, a swim teacher at Macclesfield Leisure Centre, passed away on January 21 of cardiac arrest.
From Friday morning on December 1 2023, the Priory Lane place of leisure will raise funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young.
Debbie Christopherson, Human Resources Business Partner at Everybody Health & Leisure said: “On Friday 1st December 2023 we are holding a cake sale at Macclesfield Leisure Centre from 11am.”
“This is to raise money and awareness in memory of our colleague Mia Jennings who died aged 19 in January 2023 of a cardiac arrest.
“Mia was a valuable Apprentice in HR and a Swimming Teacher at Macclesfield. She was always smiling and loved her jobs and she wanted to make a difference and do her best at everything.”
“Donations of cake will be greatly received and we hope you will be able to pop in and buy cake whilst raising funds for CRY in Mia’ memory. 12 young people a week die of cardiac arrests and we want to provide awareness and more screening.”
