Thank you to everyone who has supported CRY over the past 12 months.
Here’s a look back at some of CRY’s achievements in 2024
On the 23rd of June 2024, the 18th annual CRY Heart of London Bridges Walk was held. We were so pleased to welcome 1,134 supporters to Southwark Park, as well as having 42 walking for CRY in their local area. From 9am onwards, supporters started gathering by the bandstand, observing and uploading messages and pictures to our message wall, and connecting with CRY staff and with other participants…
Thank you to our incredible supporters who joined us on Sunday the 6th October, for the 15th annual CRY Heart of Durham Walk!
We are deeply grateful to all 255 walkers and volunteers who joined us on the day, with many traveling far and wide to come together to remember those that have died of Young Sudden Cardiac Death. This important date in the CRY calendar is a meaningful occasion for everyone involved…
Congratulations and a massive thank you to the 67 runners who took part in the Great North Run for CRY on Sunday 8th September 2024!
It was a brilliant day, though the weather conditions were far from ideal, with the rain starting around the same time the race began. Despite this, the CRY team did amazingly well to make it round the course and make it to the finish line…
A huge thank you and congratulations from all at CRY to our amazing runners who took part in the 2024 TCS London Marathon!
On Sunday 21st April 2024 #TeamCRY got to complete the iconic 26.2 miles through London. We were delighted to have 118 runners take part on behalf of CRY, raising both vital funds and awareness…
Thank you and congratulations to the 35 CRY runners who took part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday 7th April 2024!
With 18,500 runners taking to the streets of London, the buzzing atmosphere along the route really made the day special. The enthusiastic CRY cheering team spurred on our CRY London Landmarks team with noisy whistles and cowbells! We saw some fantastic costumes and fancy dress including a few well-known buildings, an elephant, a moose and much more.
A huge thank you to everyone who shared their fundraising efforts with us this year. It’s always amazing to see the incredible ways people support CRY, from ultra marathons to skydives, galas to golf days. Each and every moment dedicated to raising both funds and awareness is invaluable to CRY. Without your support, we wouldn’t be able to continue our essential work.

In 2024 we launched our ‘I’ve had my heart screened by CRY’ campaign following our screening interest list receiving a record high of 100,000 people.
The campaign’s aim was to raise awareness and funds for CRY’s screening programme Test My Heart and promote CRY’s message that every young person should have the choice to have their heart screened.
Thank you to our incredible families, donors, and supporters who make this lifesaving work possible.

In September, myheart released it’s 2024 newsletter rounding up all of the myheart news from 2023.
The newsletter includes personal stories shared by myheart members, information regarding myheart meetings, volunteering options and more!
In Heart Month 2024, CRY reintroduced the ‘Why Do I Support CRY?’ campaign to highlight the personal reasons behind supporting CRY.
We invited our supporters to share their reasons, allowing us to showcase what CRY means to so many on our social media platforms. The campaign was a resounding success for the second consecutive year, with an overwhelming number of responses, many of which shared the profound impact of Young Sudden Cardiac Death (YSCD) on their lives.
To read all the responses from this campaign, please click below.
We invited our supporters to help to raise awareness of the incidence of young sudden cardiac death and to raise vital funds for CRY’s cardiac screening programme for young people by submitting a photo of the person they support CRY in memory of, their name and age when they died. We then used this information to create a personalised graphic, which was sent to the supporter for use on social media.
Hundreds took part in this impactful campaign, spreading crucial awareness to new audiences across social media platforms.
Thank you to everyone who took part in support of CRY.
Thank you to everyone who shared, liked or commented this year!

3 September 2024: almost 300 delegates attended an intense, informative and interactive event, held in Central London, sharing the very latest developments in sports cardiology as part of the EAPC Sports Cardiology Course. This was the 10th anniversary of the EAPC course which was first held in London back in 2005. For the first time EAPC, an association of the ESC, joint forces with the American College of Cardiology Foundation to bring a truly international flavour to the course. In a change to the annual research calendar, the leading charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) took the decision to partner with EAPC and Cleveland Clinic London and co-host its International Conference (which has been held in late October for the past 16 years), immediately following on from the 2024 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) congress, which was also being held in London. The format delivered a ‘packed programme’ of presentations on key aspects of sports Cardiology practice, discussion and interactive sessions.
