Mark Bebbington, of New Era Community Boxing Club on Queen Street, set a new record by holding boxing pads continuously for 500 rounds, which took more than 34 hours to complete and is subject to official verification from Guinness World Records.
Perhaps more importantly, however, his efforts have raised a huge amount for charity.
Bebbington took aim at the previous record of 360 rounds, which took 24 hours to complete.
Starting at 8am on Saturday, he ended up holding the pads until 6.20pm on Sunday with each hour being sponsored by local companies
With donations still to collect, the total raised for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young stands at an incredible £6,748.
The memorial fund was set up in memory of Aaron Dixon, who lost his life to an undetected heart defect in 2011 and since then, his mum Debbie has been raising money to fund heart screenings in Northwich
“Mark & I would like to thank everyone who has donated and supported this event,” Debbie said. “But the biggest thanks has to go to the boxers and the coaches, some of whom were there through the night to enable the current record to be broken.”
