Friends and family of Arabella Campbell, the 16 year old Beckenham schoolgirl who died a sudden cardiac death, have raised £766 for CRY.*
Former classmates of Arabella at Langley Park School for Girls and their families organised a Cake Bake as part of the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young’s Awareness Week, making over 600 home made cakes, sponges, cookies and gingerbread men to raise cash and awareness of CRY’s screening service for 14 to 35 year olds.
The cake sale was fantastic, we had over 45 bakers and 100 Krispy Kreme doughnuts. We actually sold to the staff on Wednesday of that week and to the students on the Friday. My friend, Sarah, who was Arabella’s god mother, lives in Toronto and wired a £50 donation asking for the cakes that bought to go to a local women’s refuge; I took them over on Friday afternoon and they were thrilled. In the photo the girls are all younger sisters of Arabella’s friends, they and their mothers baked.
*This was match funded by Basepoint Centres Ltd Dartford, making a total of £1532.
