Memorial Fund night planned

A Gala dinner in aid of The Levon Morland Memorial Fund for Cry (Cardiac Risk in the Young) is being held at Middlesbroughโ€™s Riverside Stadium.

The dinner, hosted by Century FM football commentator Alistair Brownlee, will feature a raffle with prizes donated by Rio Ferdinand, Steve Harmison, Middlesbrough Football Club and Redcar Racing.

The charity was founded in memory of Levon Morland, a 22-year-old from West Rainton, County Durham, who died of sudden Adult Death Syndrome in 2002.

He was found to have a rare heart condition known as Wolfe Parkinson white syndrome, which can be resolved with a simple operation if detected.

The charity raises money to fund screening programmes.

The fundraising event is being sponsored by Thompsons Solicitors, of Middlesbrough.
