A Gala dinner in aid of The Levon Morland Memorial Fund for Cry (Cardiac Risk in the Young) is being held at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium.
The dinner, hosted by Century FM football commentator Alistair Brownlee, will feature a raffle with prizes donated by Rio Ferdinand, Steve Harmison, Middlesbrough Football Club and Redcar Racing.
The charity was founded in memory of Levon Morland, a 22-year-old from West Rainton, County Durham, who died of sudden Adult Death Syndrome in 2002.
He was found to have a rare heart condition known as Wolfe Parkinson white syndrome, which can be resolved with a simple operation if detected.
The charity raises money to fund screening programmes.
The fundraising event is being sponsored by Thompsons Solicitors, of Middlesbrough.
