Last weekend Miccoli played at The Lights centre in Leeds. This pretty Centre was fairly quiet with more restaurants than shops, however many of the shoppers who were visiting the centre stopped to listen to the band and were interested to learn about CRY.
So far the band has been approached by a variety of people with a mix of those who had heard of CRY and others who hadn’t. The tour has importantly enabled the band to reach a number of young people who expressed an interest in contacting CRY for advice on symptoms and information on screening.
Miccoli have also spoken to people in the 30-40 years age range who had undergone surgery themselves but had not previously heard of CRY. They have been taking leaflets or joining the mailing list because they have children and were considering the screening for them. This is great to hear as the purpose of the tour is to raise awareness and to reach out to as many people as possible.
Miccoli said of the interaction they had at the shopping centre “if symptoms persist it is important that the person affected is screened again. The key issue is that these are complicated conditions to diagnose and it is vital the consultant cardiologist that they are referred to is a known expert in identifying them. “
