The Member of the Scottish Parliament for Cowdenbeath has backed a campaign to tackle the threat of cardiac deaths in young people.
Annabelle Ewing, MSP for the Cowdenbeath constituency, has signed a campaign pledge by CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). CRY is highlighting the need for a national strategy to save the lives of young people who die from undiagnosed cardiac problems.
In the UK, twelve apparently healthy and fit young people die every week of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. 56 MSPs have agreed to support the parliamentary pledge from CRY, including First Minister Humza Yousaf.
Annabelle said: “The CRY campaign was brought to parliament this week by the family of David Hill, a young man who worked in the parliament and died after collapsing during a rugby match in Dublin, playing for the Scottish Parliament team against the Irish Dail and Seanad XV.
