Thursday, July 15th 2014 and “the team” of special friends were ready in their CRY T shirts to sell programmes on the gate of the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield. It was a lovely summer’s evening. The music for the evening was a Glen Miller Tribute Band. We set up a table next to the gazebo with our CRY banner with photo of Neil and lots of leaflets. During the interval and at the end we were able to go round with our buckets. We collected £480. We were able to listen to the music in between times and partake of a few glasses of wine. We chatted to lots of people, many of whom had not heard of CRY. The Rotary-organised Music in the Gardens was a four-night event for eight local charities and a couple of months later Elaine was presented with a cheque for £2,000 by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield.
